So, who am I? My name is Michael Sauers. I was born and raised in a small town in Central Saskatchewan Canada. The only Christian upbringing I had was when my aunt tried to take me to Sunday School once. Besides that, I only stepped into a sanctuary for weddings and funerals. It wasn’t until I met my future wife to be that I started attending church. Even then I didn’t have a clue who Jesus was. I was 19 at the time and Tina was 14. Because of the age difference, our relationship didn’t form. We both went our separate ways.
Five years later, we happened upon each other again and we picked up where we left off. 6 months later we were married. Tina wasn’t the same however. She had stopped attending church and had drifted away from God. I was still unaware of Christianity, but I knew something had to be done. One Sunday morning, I threw some clothes on the bed and told he were going to church. We continued to attend on a regular basis.
During the pregnancy of our first child, we were told that there were complications. The Dr’s told us that were abnormalities and as soon as he was born, we were to take him in to get them immediately checked out. We took our concerns to the church where they surrounded us and laid hands upon us. This was a new experience for me, but I would do anything for my new child.
When he was born, we had him checked out by specialists who quickly told us that we were wasting his time. I was finally a believer and praised God for the first time. Ever since then, our lives have been full of adventure as we grow spiritually and follow God wherever he leads.
During my school years, I continued children’s ministry, but I also took an active roll in the administration of the church, creating bulletins and newsletters. I started teaching adults at that time as well. With my new training, I wanted to get as much experience as I could. I practiced my preaching skills, supervision skills, and even took a few courses in church planting.
With my Bachelors degree in hand, I started off looking for a place to serve. God called us back to
We went back to our own church where I took on the position of Sunday School teacher and treasurer. It was during that last year where I felt God calling us out into the wilderness. We started making arrangements to sell our house, weed out all of our possessions, and get ready for the trip of our lives.
And here we are, on the road, going from place to place encouraging Christians everywhere we go. Where will we end up? Only God knows.
