What are we up to now (blog)

Is it December 22 already

Posted by Michael and Tina at 11:56 AM on December 22, 2008
oops....I can't believe that it's been almost a month since I did anything on the website. My sincere apologies to all who are trying to keep up with our whereabouts.  Right now we are nicely settled in Desert Hot Springs CA. It's a small city outside of Palm Springs. For the most part, it's been beautiful here. The weather has been holding steady at around 19 C for most of the days, and at night it drops to about 4-6 C. We did get some rain which is unusual for this area. Apparently, there are only about 14 days of rain per year here, and we happened to see 4 of them... We are surrounded by mountains which were clear when we arrived but are now covered with snow. The white stuff didn't get down to us though. We pack up and head off to Phoenix tomorrow. We're actually going to a small town called Buckeye which is outside of Phoenix, but i think it's pretty close to Tina's family who live in Goodyear.
Over the last couple of weeks, we have been to Castaic, Valencia, Santa Monica, Anaheim, Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City and Huntington Beach. Disneyland was awesome. We did the 6 day park hopper pass which is far better than the 3 day. you can see everything at a leisurely pace. If you can avoid it though, DO NOT GO TO DISNEYLAND ON THE WEEKEND, it is crazy busy. We asked one of the cast members how many people he thought were here on a Saturday afternoon. He calmly replied, "we expect there to be about 50,000 people today". Comparatively speaking, there is only about 20-30,000 people during the week. The weekend was chaos.
I am proud of my little boy Matthew, who went on almost all of the rides and actually enjoyed them. Space Mountain turned out to be one of his favorites. And then there was the Mulholland Madness marathon. During one of the parades, we went on this ride 12 times in a row. Matthew and Abigail were able to do the Jedi Training Academy, and Abigail was able to be in the Princess Faire. Andrew was able to go on California Screaming and The Hollywood Tower of Terror. Apparently, His mother screamed on the tower well after the ride was over.
I spent the last week working on a video to give to our friends and family for Christmas. For our friends, you will have to wait until after Christmas to get it though. Mailing things from here costs an arm and a leg, so we are going to send them back with our family who will mail them from Canada. I have some great ideas for more videos, so most of our friends should get a personalized one soon. It's just one way for us to say that we miss you and are thinking of you.
As far as Mexico is concerned, we decided not to go there. It was a hard decision, but we both prayed and sensed it wasn't the right time. We have been meeting many different people along the way who have needed our prayer and encouragement. It's been a good ministry. We are sensing a call to New Mexico. There are many pastorless churches in this state. Our prayer is that there is someplace that needs help and encouragement.
I am hoping to add a prayer page on here within the next couple of weeks. That way you can see who we have met and who we are praying for and you can pray for them as well.
God bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas.
